Secretary Perez's Commitment to Improve Morale At United States Department of Labor effective now
Updated On: Oct 25, 2013

Dear Members:

I am sorry for overburdening you with so much email today, however, while Congress fiddles, we need to move forward with the Union’s efforts to work with the new Secretary to improve  the morale and leadership at the Department of Labor.

As we stated two weeks ago, Secretary Perez, at a the joint labor management forum on pre-decisional involvement of the employees, expressed his concern regarding the low ranking of morale and leadership at the Department according national surveys. Secretary Perez committed to meeting with the unions in the next sixty (60) days to develop a plan to move forward and improve morale and performance.

Local 12 needs your feedback on this process.

Therefore, I am sharing with you a draft of what we believe are the six major issues damaging morale at the Department of Labor and some possible solutions to address these problems.  We would like your feedback on these issues; your concerns about issues that we may not have raised; and some possible suggestions from you on how to improve morale and leadership at the Department of Labor.

We would like your feedback by close of business Friday October 18, 2013. Please send your suggestions, comments or questions to Guerriero.Megan@DOL.GOV.  We also plan on having several town hall meetings before the 18th, pending any government shutdown, to hear your comments and suggestions.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to a collaborative process with our members and the new Secretary of Labor.

In Solidarity,

Alex Bastani
